Turks Cap Lily

Lilium martagon (Martagon or Turk’s cap lily) is a species of lily. The flower colour is typically a pink-purple, with dark spots, but is quite variable, extending from near white to near black. The flowers are scented. Numerous flowers are borne on each plant, and up to 50 can be found on vigorous plants. The plant is stem-rooting, growing between 1 m and 2 m tall.

    The Turk's Cap Lily Mix, Lilium superbum, will become favorites in your garden! Though many lilies have come and gone over the years, these have survived the test of time. Their gracefully recurved petals have given them their intriguing name. They are excellent garden lilies and will increase in beauty every year. Plant in small groups in the border or scatter them around for a more informal look. Well-drained soil and full to partial sun suit them best.Lilium superbum Turk's cap lily is easily grown. Mulch helps prevent soils drying out and keep the root zone cool. Turk's cap lily bulbs should be planted 4 to 6 inches deep.

    The Orange Turk's Cap Lily, Lilium henryii, is a vigorous Turk's Cap specie, with up to 20 flowers per stem. This long lived, hardy variety has orange flowers with dark spots. Though many lilies have come and gone over the years, these have survived the test of time. Their gracefully recurved petals have given them their intriguing name.They are excellent garden lilies and will increase in beauty every year.     The Yellow Turk's Cap Lily, Lilium citronella, has lemon yellow petals dotted dark brown or black curling back to almost a complete circle. 20-30+ flowers per stem. They are excellent garden lilies and will increase in beauty every year. Plant in small groups in the border or scatter them around for a more informal look.   • Turks Cap lily should be planted before the middle of October, if possible, in well-drained, highly-manured loam, with a little sand added.
