Allium Sphaerocephalon
Formerly known as Allium Descendens, Allium Sphaerocephalon is also known as round-headed leek, round-headed garlic, ball-head onion, and other variations on these names.

The Allium 'Gladiator', 'Allium', a fall planted ornamental onion bulb, produces beautiful violet – blue flowers. This showy giant produces large, violet-blue globular flowers. Plant them in groups of three or more bulbs for the best effect. They are great for ornamental value and widely used for both landscape and cut flower purposes. The blooms are pleasantly fragrant and this plant is an easy and prolific addition to the garden. Plant in groups of ten or more for an eye catching focal point. It is a hardy perennial plant of the family Alliaceae, the onion or Allium family. It is grown by gardeners for its striking appearance when in flower. The purple spherical flower head is borne on a long spike, up to 50 cm in height, usually in the month of July.
